Home Instead Senior Care expands team and care packages

Mr. Ray Power, recently appointed General Manager of HomeInstead Senior Care Waterford

Home Instead Senior Care, which provides an array of senior care services, has announced plans to increase its range of care packages in 2013.

Based in the Cleaboy Business Park, Home Instead Senior Care Waterford has since 2009 provided home care services to seniors in their own homes.  According to Director of Care Danette Connolly, the new packages of services will enhance the current offering from the home care provider.

Home Instead Senior Care is the world’s leading provider of non-medical, in-home services to seniors, and has almost 1,000 offices throughout the world.  Since the Waterford office opened its doors four years ago we have strived to bring optimum home care to our clients and their families.”

Ms. Connolly added, “In 2013 we will be introducing a further range of care packages.  These packages range from the few hours a day to 24 hour care or respite care in the home.  At present there is a waiting list for most of the nursing homes in Waterford making home care a very viable option.”

“There is tax relief available for homecare which can reduce the cost by up to
41 %.  Home care provides individualized one-to-one care that can be a solution to many seniors needs, whether it is because of physical limitation or a condition such as dementia, Home Instead Senior Care works with the individual and their family to put in place  care packages to best suit their needs.”

In order to facilitate the new services Home Instead has expanded its team and now employs eight administration and nursing staff and over seventy CAREGivers.

The most recent addition to the Home Instead Senior Care team is Mr. Ray Power.  Ray joins as General Manager of the Waterford office and his duties will include the implementation of the new care packages, along with the day to day operations of the organisation.  Ray’s most recent position was as Manager of Waterford’s inaugural Winterval, Ireland’s Christmas Festival. Ray also has a long standing involvement in many worthy charities including the Chernobyl Children’s Project, Waterford Albania Partnership and the Pakistani Earthquake Appeal.

He is delighted to join the Home Instead team and said “It’s great to be part of such a progressive yet caring company.  Senior issues are at the core of what Home Instead does and it is imperative that senior care providers make available services that make life easier for seniors who are being cared for at home.  Our new portfolio of care packages will make first-rate home care available and accessible to a wide range of Waterford families.”

Home Instead has also augmented its nursing team with the addition of Orla Hoban and Leanne Murphy as care co-ordinators.

Home Instead Senior Care is not only recognised as a growing business, but also as a reputable and trusted member of the health care sector.  Under the direction of Danette Connolly, the company has spearheaded many positive health initiatives including Positive Ageing Week in Waterford and the designation of Waterford a Positive Ageing city.

Danette has also worked to establish a Stroke Support Group for Waterford which meets the first Thursday of every month in the Waterford Health Park. On a local level Danette has been advocating for regulation of the home care sector with the best interest of those being cared for in mind.  Currently there is no regulation in place.
