High Schools Festival heats up!

Exciting line up of high octane schools set to participate in Waterford International Music Festival

With Waterford’s International Music Festival returning to the Theatre Royal, the High School Festival will add a high octane, high energy element to the festival in May.

Announcing details of the participating schools for the 2012 festival, Vicki Graham, High School Festival co-ordinator, was delighted with the line – up. “We are delighted to announce that six talented schools will be bringing their productions to the High School Festival as part of the Waterford International Music Festival.”

“Young talent from the region and further afield will compete over three nights in what promises to be a lively element of the festival.”

The participating schools include Waterford’s De La Salle College with the hugely popular “Back to the 80’s” and Stella Maris’ production of “Our Day Out”, Loreto Secondary School and St. Peter’s College of Wexford are bringing the perennial favourite “Grease” to the stage, “Oliver” will be performed by Colaiste Bhrid of Carnew, Maynooth Post Primary School will perform “The Phantom of the Opera” and the Phoenix Stage School will perform a Variety Show.

Vicki added “There is such a wealth of young talent in the secondary and stage schools around the country. The High School Festival gives these young performers the opportunity to shine under the spotlight and they are all delighted to performing within a festival that has, over the years, produced and nurtured amazing musical talent.”

The High School Festival takes place at the Theatre Royal on May 1st, 2nd, and 9th.
