Local food hero supports Waterford Rotary charity event

Rotary Club of Waterford presents a celebration of food with the award winning south east chef Kevin Dundon of the Dunbrody Country House Hotel. This exciting event, in association with Caulfield’s SuperValu at the Hypercentre will take place at 7.30pm on Tuesday April 28th at the Tower Hotel in Waterford City.

With Mr. Dundon donating his time for free all proceeds from the evening will go towards St Vincent de Paul and Waterford Belarus Dental Charity.

One of Ireland’s best-loved chefs, Kevin Dundon can usually be found busy at work in the Dunbrody House kitchens and cookery school. You will also often find him gracing the TV screens and chatting on Irish radio covering all things to do with food. A chef with a love of locally-sourced indigenous produce Kevin considers himself spoilt with the positive bounty of fresh seafood and fantastic fruit and vegetables literally on his doorstep. Inspiration is easy to come by when you can indulge in the huge selection from the Hook Peninsula and also from Kevin’s own kitchen gardens at his hotel Dunbrody Country House.

Established by Kevin and his wife Catherine in 1997, Dunbrody has become synonymous with contemporary Irish Country House cooking. Reflected in all of Kevin’s cookbooks, this passion for freshness mixed with both simplicity and flair is the signature of Kevin’s cooking.

Ms. Ann Marie Caulfield, President of the Rotary Club of Waterford said, “The Rotary Club of Waterford is so proud to present this event. I’d like to thank Kevin for giving his valuable time and talent for such worthy charities.”

Rotary Club and Tom Murphy Mercedes Benz bring Mrs. Brown’s Boys, D’Movie to the big screen!

The Rotary Club of Waterford is proud to present a special screening of Mrs. Brown’s Boys, D’Movie.

This charity evening takes place thanks to Mercedes Benz at the Tom Murphy Car Sales showrooms, on the Cork Road, Waterford on Wednesday November 19th at 7.30pm, with light food and drinks reception beforehand.

The charities to benefit from the movie night are the SECF Solas Centre and The Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

The SECF Solas Centre is a registered charity 100% reliant on donations to provide services free to people affected by cancer.  The generosity and commitment of the public will help the South Eastern Cancer Foundation to continue and further improve the services provided at the Solas Centre and to reach more people affected by cancer.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVP) was founded in Ireland in 1844. Its focus is on practical approach to dealing with poverty, alleviating its effects on individuals and families through working primarily in person-to-person contact by a unique system of family visitation and seeking to achieve social justice and equality of opportunity for all citizens.

Mrs. Brown's Boys D'Movie is a 2014 comedy film based on the sitcom Mrs. Brown's Boys. When Moore Street market-trader Agnes Brown finds her livelihood under threat from a ruthless developer, she and her family embark on a campaign to save her stall, aided as only the Browns will be, by a motley troop of blind trainee Ninjas, an alcoholic solicitor, and a barrister with Tourettes Syndrome.

Barry Murphy of Tom Murphy Mercedes Benz is looking forward to the event, “We at Tom Murphy Mercedes Benz are delighted to be associated with this unique event. When approached with the idea of a charity film night in conjunction with Rotary Waterford we jumped at the chance. It’s such an original idea and the opportunity to work with Rotary to raise funds for such worthy causes couldn’t be passed up.”

The Rotary Club of Waterford raised approximately €30,000 for charities in 2013, including local charities such as Waterford Hospice. Waterford Rotary Club is best known locally for the annual Memorial Christmas Tree in John Roberts Square

Tickets cost €25 ( all of which goes to charity) and can be purchased from Tom Murphy Mercedes Benz showrooms on the Cork Road and David M. Breen & Co. Wallace House, Maritana Gate, Canada Street, Waterford
