Head West to Killarney – it’s all go, go, go!

It’s shaping up to be a busy season for one of Kerry’s favourite boutique hotels as Killarney plays host to three of Ireland’s most prestigious sporting events – the Killarney Races, the 3 Irish Open and the Killarney Maxi Marathon.

Randles Court Hotel, situated on the famous Muckross Road, for many years has served as a base for many of the participants, competitors and guests to the region.

The icing on the calendar cake has to the 3 Irish Open which tees off on July 29th. The venue is the Killarney Golf and Fishing Club and this will be the third year that Killarney has hosted the Irish Open following consecutive events in 1991 and ’92.

According to Linda Crossan, Sales and Marketing Manager, Randles Court Hotel is preparing for a very busy season. “This summer is fantastic in Killarney. We have so had so many great events and still have so much to look forward and are expecting a huge influx of golfers, athletes, race enthusiasts and visitors.”

Earlier this month, what is regarded as the jewel in the racing crown – the Killarney Races took place. Both national hunt and flat racing took place over three evenings and four days. Coinciding with the Killarney Summerfest the town was buzzing with great family entertainment, live music, a carnival atmosphere, art exhibitions and outdoor theatres and concerts.

If that wasn’t enough to whet the appetite the inaugural Killarney Maxi Marathon took place on July 17th. The race started in Molls Gap and continued along the spectacular Ring of Kerry road. This dramatic route to Killarney Town passes the rugged landscape of Killarney National Park and the Lakes of Killarney.

Linda Crossan added “We have received lots of enquiries from the South East and Waterford about availability surrounding the full calendar of summer events.”

“By working with the respective event managers we have made special provisions at our hotel to ensure that are guests are kept fully up to date on all aspects of the events, from transport arrangements, entry criteria, discounts and concessions.”
