NAS Training Centre introduces Autumn Training Schedule

The NAS Training Centre has launched its Autumn Training prospectus and the schedule offers a diverse range of courses and qualification levels.

The state of the art training facility has gained a reputation as one of the region’s leading training venues and continues to work with strategic partners to host a wide range of academic and practical courses for different sectors and disciplines.

U.C.C. accredited courses due to commence in September include Certificate in Autism Spectrum Studies.  The course, created by Adult Continuing Education (ACE) at UCC, the Brothers of Charity, COPE Foundation, Cork Association for Autism and Shine Ireland focuses on the different ways in which people on the autistic spectrum experience the world.

It is designed for those who wish to develop a deeper understanding of the issues affecting the lives of people who experience ASD and examines the historical and social practices that enabled autism to be identified.

Other U.C.C. accredited courses include Higher Diploma in Safety, Health and Welfare at Work, MSc Personal and Management Coaching and Diploma in Learning and Development Practice.

Back for a third term is the Irish Times Training Diploma in Digital Media, in association with the Irish Internet Association. This course is aimed at any business or individual that wants to gain a better understanding of the ever evolving digital landscape and will enable all participants to develop a focused digital marketing strategy.

Over the course of the 12 weeks the modules will include digital marketing strategy, SEO, online advertising, mobile web, social media, online PR and many more.  The trainers comprise of some of the most well regarded names in the digital media industry.

Other Autumn courses include IITD Professional Practice Certificate in Training and Development and Certificate in Trainers Skills.  Darlington Consulting will run a one day course, “Health and Safety Compliance pays” and a Primary Course in Food Hygiene will be conducted by Mary Daly and Associates.

Michael Connolly, NLP Licensed Master Practitioner courses scheduled in the NAS Centre.  NLP is a powerful system of thinking that can accelerate the achievement of your personal and professional goals.  In effect, NLP is a powerful change management tool that transforms the way people think and act to have the greatest impact both professionally and personally.

The NAS Centre also continues to provide manual handling, patient handling, first aid, CPR, AED and fire safety courses in the centre.

NAS Training Centre to host Chamber Business after Hours

The NAS Training Centre, based in the Cleaboy Business Park, will host a Business after Hours, in association with Waterford Chamber of Commerce, on Thursday, May 1^st.

The state of the art training facility has gained a reputation as one of the region’s leading conference and training venues and May’s open event will give businesses and trainers the opportunity to learn about the facilities and courses on offer.

According to Ray Power, General Manager of NAS Training Centre, the portfolio of courses has grown exponentially since it opened in 2006.  “The NAS Training Centre hosts a wide range of academic and practical courses for different sectors and disciplines.”

“We have proactively sought to work with strategic partners in developing a broad portfolio of training courses.  We are working with an array of local and national trainers, such as the I.I.T.D., Mary Daly and Associates and Darlington Consulting.”

“Our partnership with Adult Continuing Education at UCC has been very successful and has seen the centre run courses in Autism Studies and Disability Studies.”

UCC Diploma in Disability Studies Coming to NAS Training Centre in Waterford

Following the launch of its Adult Continuing Education (ACE) courses in Waterford last year, UCC is delighted to introduce its Diploma in Disability Studies at the NAS Training Centre.

ACE at University College Cork is the longest established dedicated centre for adult and lifelong learning in the Irish University system.  Over the past several decades ACE has developed a strong tradition of delivering renowned university accredited Continuing Professional Development and Executive Education courses in a wide range of disciplines.

The Diploma in Disability Studies is a two year part time level 7 programme and is designed for those who live, work, care or volunteer in the area of disability.  Disability Studies is a vibrant area of study, developed over the past 40 years by disabled academics. It challenges the way in which disability is understood in our society by developing new research and educational models. These help to remove the physical, legal, political and attitudinal barriers that exclude people from society.

The Diploma in Disability Studies will help students to develop their critical awareness of the factors operating in the world of disability, to become aware of the ways in which different issues overlap and to explore ways of working around these.

ACE Co-ordinator and Waterford native, Ms. Lyndsey El Amoud, who spearheaded the introduction of the UCC accredited courses to Waterford said, “ACE at UCC is delighted to be able to introduce such a practical and informative course to Waterford and the South East.”

The course will be held in the NAS Training Centre, in the Cleaboy Business Park.  Since opening its doors in Waterford in 2006, the NAS Training Centre has earned a reputation for excellence in providing a wide range of training courses and programmes set in a centrally located state of the art facility.

New Certificate In Autism Spectrum Studies launched by UCC and NAS Training Centre

When it comes to discussing autism, Asperger Syndrome or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), the focus often falls on the difficulties encountered by parents sourcing services or appropriate education for their children. Sometimes it is the personal account of a person who is on the autistic spectrum.

The Certificate in Autism Spectrum Studies at UCC takes a different approach.  Created by Adult Continuing Education (ACE) at UCC, in a remarkable example of cooperation, the Brothers of Charity, COPE Foundation, Cork Association for Autism and Shine Ireland have shared their expertise with ACE in the development of a programme that focuses on the different ways in which people on the autistic spectrum experience the world.

It is designed for those who wish to develop a deeper understanding of the issues affecting the lives of people who experience ASD and examines the historical and social practices that enabled autism to be identified.

The programme was developed following heavy demand from parents and siblings, teachers and front line workers, health care and other professionals and those who have an interest in the area of autism.

This one year part-time programme, as well as UCC’s two year part-time Diploma in Disability Studies, will be available in the NAS Training Centre in the Cleaboy Business Park from October.

An Open Information Day takes place on Friday, September 20th from 2-7pm in NAS Training Centre, Cleaboy Business Park, Waterford City.

UCC’s Adult Continuing Education comes to Waterford

University College Cork has introduced a suite of its Adult Continuing Education (ACE) courses which will commence in Waterford in September.

ACE at University College Cork is the longest established dedicated centre for adult and lifelong learning in the Irish University system.  Over the past several decades ACE has developed a strong tradition of delivering university accredited Continuing Professional Development and Executive Education courses to hundreds of professionals in a wide range of disciplines.

The suite of courses, which will commence at the NAS Training Centre in the Cleaboy Business Park in September, was officially launched by the Mayor of Waterford, Cllr. Jim D’Arcy this week.

Commenting on the launch of the portfolio of courses, Waterford native, Ms. Lyndsey El Amoud, ACE Business Development Officer, was delighted that the highly acclaimed courses will be available in Waterford.

“These courses will offer those in Waterford and the South East the opportunity to progress their careers or to get back into the jobs market.  All of the courses are fully accredited by UCC, with participants registering as UCC students and graduating at UCC upon completion.”

“The choice of courses is quite broad and will have a wide appeal to people who are either currently in the workforce wishing to up-skill, acquire new skills and competencies or those who are unemployed and considering their career options.”

Lyndsey added, “A number of these programmes are also accredited by nationally and internationally recognised professional bodies, including the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and the Irish Institute of Training and Development (IITD).”

The Mayor of Waterford, Cllr. Jim D’Arcy said that the suite of courses is a welcome addition to the adult education landscape in Waterford and added that he had no doubt the project would be just as much a success in Waterford as it is in the other outreach centres of Kerry and Limerick.

The courses range from NFQ Levels 7 to 9 and include, among others, a Higher Diploma in Safety, Health and Welfare at Work, a Higher Diploma in Learning, Development and Work-Based Training and a Masters in Personal and Management Coaching.
